Ogun state government takes delivery of 50,000 coronavirus vaccines
The Ogun State Government on Monday took delivery of 50,000 first batch of the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccines from the Federal Government, and it’s the first state in the country to receive the consignments.
Penpushing reports that, the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun who received the consignments at his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta commended the Presidential Task Force(PTF) on coronavirus for its efforts at reducing the spread of the dreaded virus.
The Governor spoke on the safety of the vaccine, explaining that his administration is relying on international certification of the vaccines, disclosing that the National Food and Drugs Agency (NAFDAC), have taken the samples and were subjected to test with its assurance that it is safe.
“NAFDAC took the samples, they subjected it to test and they assured us that is safe for our citizens. I want to say yes, the vaccines are here but what science tells us is that it is not the avenue to throw our mask away”, he stated
Penpushing further reports that, Abiodun disclosed that he would within next twenty-four hours present himself to take the vaccine as soon as the procedures are completed by the State Ministry of Health.
“We’ll surely take the vaccine, starting with me and my deputy to the Commissioners as soon as the Commissioner for Health and her team are ready for us” Abiodun said
