Ogun state government organizes employment conference

The Ogun State Government in collaboration with German Government have concluded arrangements for a 2-day maiden edition of employment conference scheduled to hold between October 11 and 12, 2023 at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta.

Penpushing reports that the Chairman, Local Planning Committee, Ogun State Employment Conference, Dr. Olu Aikulola, made this known in a statement, adding that the conference is through German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).

The Committee boss who doubles as the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, explained that the conference will improve the prospects of gainful employment to the teeming youths of the State.

Penpushing further reports that Aikulola in the press statement added that in the same vein, the conference is planned to bridge the gap between global and local realities, stressing that the theme of the conference is ‘Addressing Employment and Job Creation in Ogun State- Tapping into the Global and Local Opportunities’.

The statement pointed out that the conference which was earlier scheduled for the first week in September would be formally declared open by the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun with other top government functionaries in attendance.

Penpushing also reports that the conference to start 9am daily would bring together policy makers, international development organizations, organized private sector networks and other relevant employment and labour market-related actors and youths to exchange ideas on key sectoral issues.

The statement noted that a well-planned job fair would come up as a follow-up to the employment conference in the first or second week of November in order to afford job seekers the opportunity to interact with prospective employers.
