
Bandits kill local government chairman’s security aide, abduct son
Suspected bandits have killed Shamsudeen Ahmed, who was the security aide of the Chairman of Malumfashi Local Government Area), of Katsina State Dayi Maharazu and equally abducted the council boss four-year-old son in their residence.
Penpushing reports that a close associate said the bandits attacked residence of the chairman early Tuesday after jumping a neighbour’s fence to enter the premises at about 1:45 a.m, where they met only his wife, children, and some family members in the house
“One of the children spotted the intruders and raised the alarm. Consequently, some of his family members locked themselves in a toilet while their mother locked herself and some of their children in her room. However, the bandits caught two other children sleeping in another room. Mrs Maharazu managed to contact her husband, who was in Katsina, and he subsequently alerted the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Malumfashi’, the source added.
Penpushing further reports that the sources added that the police engaged the bandits in a shootout and rescued one of the abducted children as they escaped with the four-year-old, while as at the time of filing this report the bandits had not contacted the family for ransom as of the time of filing this report.
The Katsina State Police Command Police Public Relations Officer, Katsina Command, Sadiq Abubakar, confirmed the attack, adding that three suspects had been arrested and confirmed that the chairman’s security aide, died at the hospital from injuries he sustained from the attack.
