“OGUN PEOPLE WILL BENEFIT FROM 2020 BUDGET”, SAYS GOVERNOR ABIODUN

The Governor said the treasury board will also allow integration of the plans of various Government ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs),stressing,”this Treasury Board meeting allows us to integrate the plans of our various Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) towards attaining a qualitative, comprehensive, feasible public expenditure profile.

“We must realise that our responsibility to the people of our dear State goes beyond channelling a routine pattern for the use of public resources. We must device a system of strategic allocation of resources which ensures that policies, projects and programmes of government will have the optimum impact on the people, who are the real essence of government.

“Let me say that all the expenditures are going to be targeted at programmes and projects aimed at continued development of our dear State and creating more prosperity for the people” Governor Abiodun said.

“In doing this, we will be achieving the vision of our Administration as embodied in the “Building our Future Together” Agenda. This Treasury Board Meeting is the climax of the planning process for the incoming 2020 Budget’.

‘As Public Servants, who are directly in charge of the execution of government programmes, I implore you to see this meeting as a vital development planning process because it will enable us to evaluate the outgoing year and determine the steps for the incoming year’.

“We must also realize that this is the first Full-Year Budget of our Administration. It therefore infers that the attainment of the optimum well-being of the entire good people of Ogun State and all those who have made our dear State their home irrespective of age, gender, religion, geographical location and political affiliation is ensured”

The Consultant to the State Governor on Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, has proposed the sum of ₦32,463,069,709.35 for the construction of about 300 kilometres rural roads of the State and also noted that, the proposed budget was short of N34billion in the approved N66billion for 2019.

Penpushing further reports that, he equally stressed that, the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure intends to generate the sum of N1.3billion from the checking permit, fire service and VIO duty, but however added that, the Ministry is currently looking at new technologies that will aid the rehabilitation of roads in the State, adding that the Ministry would be in need of over N200billio to fully reach the level where its duty of ensuring motorable road is met.

  The Consultant to the Governor on Budget and Planning, Mr. Olaolu Olabimtan,in his welcome address  said the State for the first time has declared the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), noting that this would reduce the gap between the request of the Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs) and improved estimates, while means that Budget outcomes would be more predictable and the MDAs more confident in their planning.

Penpushing also reports that, among dignitaries  present at the budget meeting were; Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Chief of Staff, Alhaji. Shuaibu Salisu, Head of Service, Engr. Lanre Bisiriyu, and Permanent Secretaries of Ministries,  among others.
