Decomposed body found on Jigawa hill in Jigawa state
A decomposed body of 37-year-old Ado Barau, popularly known as Jojo, has been discovered on Kandahar Hill, opposite Dutse General Hospital, in Jigawa state, an incident which thrown residents into panic.
Penpushing reports that the Jigawa State Police Command Public Relations Officer Shi’isu Adam, confirmed the incident stating that the deceased said to had long suffered from a mental disorder was from Kasarau Fagoji in Dutse metropolis.
The police spokesperson added that the incident, reported to the police on September 16, 2025 at about 3:45 p.m., prompted detectives from Dutse Division to visit the scene, explaining that due to the advanced state of decomposition and the foul odour, the body was buried at the site with assistance from the local government welfare department.
“The burial took place in the presence of the deceased’s relatives, representatives of traditional institutions, operatives from the DSS, NSCDC, FRSC, and members of the local community,” SP Adam stated.
Penpushing further reports that Adamu, a superintendent of police added that the deceased’s elder brother, Rabiu Shehu, alongside local leaders, confirmed that Barau had been battling mental illness and dismissed speculation that parts of his body were missing.
The Command Public Relations Officer urged the public to disregard fake news that could cause panic, emphasising the importance of vigilance and prompt reporting of suspicious activities, and equally reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to transparency, professionalism, and the protection of lives and property.
