Obaseki’s disqualification won’t stop him from contesting edo state governorship election, says party chairman

The All Progressives Congress (APC),Edo State Chapter has declared the disqualification of Governor Godwin Obaseki not to contest the primary of the party ahead of the Governorship election will not stop him from contesting.

Penpushing reports that, Chairman of the , Anselm Ojezua, made this known in a statement, explaining that, the disqualification was unjust,stating that the screening committee announcement was come as a surprise

“They didn’t say he will not contest the election but that he will not contest under the platform of the APC. By tomorrow, we will meet and be in a position to make a proper statement on what the future holds for the party in Edo State”, he said

The Chairman pointed out that the governor had alluded to the fact that he will not get justice from the screening exercise, and said Obaseki and his loyalists were not ready to contest the disqualification.

Penpushing further reports that, Ojezua  called on party members to remain calm, boasting that that the governor has performed credibly well and will be reelected for a second term, but did not disclosed which platform he is going to contest the election.

“I want to appeal to leaders and members of APC in Edo State to remain calm. The validity of the Screening Committee has not been established. A proper response to the report is yet to come as the leadership of the party in the State will meet tomorrow and at the end of the meeting give an appropriate response.

The statement of the party chairman may be closed to  rumoured planned defection of Obaseki to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),while it is also recalled that Obaseki, has been having a longrunning feud with his predecessor, Adams Oshiomhole who is the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC)

Penpushing reports that, the embattled Governor  blamed  Oshiomhole as behind his  disqualification under the platform of All Progressives Congress(APC), ahead the party’s primary scheduled to hold on June 22.
