OBASANJO, 393 OTHERS ESCAPE AIRCRASH, READS NEWSPAPERS AS TROUBLED PERIOD LASTED
The almost five-hour flight from the Ethiopian Capital to Lagos had been smooth until the pilot attempted to land at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, and rather than landing on the first touchline of the runway, the pilot overshot it, due to rain and heavy wind, landing on the third touchline.
Penpushing further reports that, the pilot on realising this, quickly maneuvered the plane back air, flying out of the Lagos airport, and started hovering around Lagos and areas suspected to be in Ogun State, a development said to cause panic in passengers and crew members.
The pilot after about some minutes, exhibited his skillful experience safe landed, a development which brought relief for the passengers, who also took turn to praise the pilot, after they all filed out from the plane
Penpushing also reports that other prominent Nigerians in the aircraft included; the Director General of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) Ambassador Ayoola Olukanni, Samson Adebayo, the Director of Ports Inspection, National Agency For Food And Drug Administration And Control (NAFDAC) as well as scores of Nigerians and other Nationals.
Meanwhile, Obasanjo, popularly called ‘Ebora Owu’ was quoted saying that, he did not entertain any fear as the troubled situation lasted, rather he was said to be busy reading newspapers, as other passengers became more troubled
