OBAFEMI AWOLOWO UNIVERSITY COMMENCES HITCH-FREE EXAMINATIONS

He said this was contrary to claims by the University’s branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) that the examination will not hold as its members have been on strike.

The release stated that the examinations commenced at exactly 8am on Monday, January 14, across the designated lecture theatres and halls, and all students whose courses have been scheduled sat for the examinations.

‘The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede, who was in company with other officials of the University, went round the venues to observe the conduct of the examination, expressing satisfaction with the arrangements for the examination and its successful take-off’, the statement said.

Penpushing also reports that the university spokesman said, the Vice-Chancellor went on to appreciate the immense contributions and support of some academics in the University who have staunchly thrown their weight behind management’s efforts at regularizing the academic calendar, adding that posterity will not forget them.

The release further remarked that the University has succeeded in dealing a decisive blow to the antics of some “fifth columnists” whose stock in trade is causing students, parents and guardians heartaches on account of frivolous and perennial disruptions of academic calendar of the University.

Penpushing further reports that Olanrewaju said,it would be recalled that University’s branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) had last week falsely claimed that the students have not been sufficiently and effectively taught to be examined since its members have been on strike since November 4, 2018.
