Oba Olufemi Ogunleye to host owu traditional rulers in yorubaland

The Traditional ruler of Akinale of Abeokuta, Oba Olufemi Ogunleye will on Tuesday host all the traditional rulers of Owu Kingdom in his Akinale community located in Ewekoro local government of Ogun State.

Penpushing reports that the hosting of the monarchs was outcome of a meeting earlier held at Owu Isin, Kwara State, by the Royal Union of Owu Obas (RUB) comprising of Obas in all Owu cities and towns in Yorubaland.

The Royal Union of Owu Obas (RUB) at the 4th meeting approved hosting right for Ogunleye, a veteran journalist turned traditional ruler, and Towulade Akinale, while record has it that this decision is epoch and is an understatement considering the history of Akinale as a premier settlement of forebears after their arrival in Abeokuta from the war torn Orile Owus in late 17th century.

Penpushing further reports that aside from the Owu traditional rulers to converge at Akinale, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who is the Balogun Owu will lead other dignitaries to the ceremony which will be transmitted live by Penpushing Media online Television

The record, however, has it that the significance of Akinale in Owu history in Abeokuta is evident in the town being the first, among the recipients of Owu Crown from Olowu’s Palace, Abeokuta, on October 31st 2006 as a mark of honour for their Owu progenitors.

Penpushing also reports that as at the time of filing this report arrangements are in top gear to make the ceremony memorable, as the Akinale community has started wearing new look, which include the palace, while residents were noticed to be in joyful mood ahead of the event
