Oba Matemilola Foundation offers free medical services to elderly in owu kingdom 

The Oba Matemilola Oluyalo Otileta  Foundation(OMOOF) on Monday conducted a free mental health awareness program for the elderly who are resident of Owu community in Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital.
Penpushing reports that the programme was held inside the palace of the traditional ruler located at Oke Ago-Owu coordinated by Olori Adijat Matemilola, the wife of the first class monarch, and doubles as the Chairperson of the foundation
The elderly in thier hundreds trooped to the palace to be beneficiaries of exercise which  focused on enlightening participants about dementia, a prevalent mental health issue among the elderly.
Penpushing further reports that the programme featured expert presentations and interactive sessions led by health practitioners from the Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta Dr. Mrs. Folake Ogundele.
The Chairperson of the foundation in her welcome address, emphasized the importance of mental health awareness, urging participants to prioritize their well-being and in similar vein, addressed a critical social issue.
“It is crucial to recognize that not all individuals suffering from dementia are witches or wizards. We must dispel harmful stigmas and promote compassion. Let us encourage those affected to seek medical attention without fear, the Olori stated
Penpushing also reports that she boasted that the foundation remains dedicated to organizing similar healthcare initiatives, fostering collaborative efforts with healthcare institutions, and promoting community outreach programs.
The  findings, however, showed that the event provided valuable information on dementia’s causes, symptoms, management, and support services, addressing participants’ concerns and questions, it also  achieved its objective of raising awareness and promoting mental health education among the elderly, demonstrating the foundation’s commitment to community health and well-being.
Penpushing reports that in similar development the initiative was well-received, with positive feedback from participants and healthcare professionals alike, as number of them expressed satisfaction and equally commended the foundation for being caring about their health welfare.
