Non-Governmental organization donates N1million to support fight against coronavirus in Ogun State
A Non-Governmental Organisation, Olalekan Ishola Foundation, known as Irorun Movement has committed the sum of N1miillon to support Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State, to tackle the spread of coronavirus.
Penpushing reports that, the founder of the foundation, Hon. Tajudeen Olalekan Ishola made this known on Thursday, and also commended Ogun State Government for measures taken in containing the spread of Coronavirus.
The donor pointed out that the commendable measures include the recent ban of gathering of more than fifty people, as well as the indefinite closure of schools across the State, just as he also expressed confidence in the leadership of Governor Dapo Abiodun, noting that the administration has all the resources to protect the people of the state.
Penpushing further reports that, Ishola explained that, the relief fund is aimed at supporting the State’s effort in managing the crisis and is expected to cushion the effect of economic implications of the ravaging virus.
The foundation boss who is also Chairmanship Aspirant in Abeokuta North Local Government, in a statement charged the people of Abeokuta North to abide by the Government directive so as to be able to manage the spread of corona virus in the state.
Penpushing also reports that, he enjoined them to adopt all protective guidelines on Covid19, including the use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers, frequent washing of hands, maintain social distance, avoid touching of eyes, nose and mouth among others.
The Candidate in demonstration of his compliance to the State Government’s directive, suspended his various support groups’ weekly meetings across the sixteen wards of the Local Government, and while acknowledging the global implications of the pandemic, noted that; “this is a tough moment in the global socio-economy; a point where we must be conscious of our health, environment and look after one another’.
‘This, Governor Abiodun’s leadership has shown and we are pleased with it. On our part, the One Million Naira will provide succour for the people of Abeokuta North and assist them access basic necessities of life in the meantime”.
Penpushing reports that, he urged every son and daughter of Abeokuta North to “remain calm, cooperate with directives of the government and notify authorities of anyone observed to have symptoms of the virus.”
