
Nnamdi Kanu is fit to stand terrorism trial, medical panel declares
A medical panel ordered by the court has declared the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, is medically fit to continue facing his ongoing terrorism trial.
Penpushing reports that part of the panel’s report was read in open court during proceedings, after the prosecution made reference to it, while it is recalled that the team was constituted by the President of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) based on the order of the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The report submitted to the court on October 13, 2025. emphasised that, Kanu who is a defendant in the terrorism charge ailment is not life-threatening., and therefore is fit to continue being tried in court
Penpushing further reports that with the submission of the report, and based on the report and in the absence of any objection from the lawyers to the parties, the judge said the court was satisfied that the defendant could proceed with the trial.
Meanwhile the judge, Justice Omotosho subsequently granted the defendant six consecutive days, beginning from 23 October, to open and close his defence.
