Federal medical centre transfers two coronavirus patients to Ogun state isolation centre

The authorities of Federal Medical Centre (FMC),Idi-Aba, Abeokuta on Thursday disclosed that ,the two adult male patients who tested positive for the  coronavirus at the institution on Monday have been evacuated to the Ogun State Isolation Centre at Ikenne.

Penpushing reports that, Head, Public Relations and  Information, Segun Orisajo  made this known in a statement, explaining that one of the patients, had earlier on Tuesday moved to the isolation centre, adding that, ’this afternoon, the second patient was successfully evacuated by the team from Ogun State Ministry of Health’.

The Public Relations Officer added that, normal medical and healthcare delivery services are going on smoothly at the health institution, affirming that the health care givers were at their duty posts attending to patients.

Penpushing recalled that, the institution on Monday recorded two new cases of coronavirus, who had earlier presented at the centre’s Accident and Emergency unit, while the patients were said to be from Lagos, and came to the hospital on Saturday

The spokesman of the hospital added that following suspicious of the caregivers their samples were taken, stating that in confirmation of the earlier suspicion by the care givers, the results of their samples returned were positive.

Penpushing also reports that, Orisajo said the two patients  were immediately isolated from other patients, saying, ‘the two cases who were adult males presented at the Centre’s Accident & Emergency unit on Saturday 16th May 2020’ .

‘Both of them were from Lagos axis. In adherence to  the triage protocol put in place as part of the control measures, the two patients were  immediately isolated from other patients’, Orisajo said.

The Medical Director of the hospital, Prof. Adewale Musa- Olomu in his reaction reiterated his earlier appeal to members of the public not to panic, adding,” I wish to remark once again that there was nothing to worry about’.

“All our personnel who treated those patients took necessary precautionary measures. The Centre at the moment is not in short supply of Personal Protective Equipment for our personnel’, he said.

“At the same time we ensure the utmost safety of all patients who come to our Centre for medical and health care services. On the latest new cases, I wish to assure our Staff and users of our facility that the Management is on top of the situation “Musa-Olomu said.
