The highlight of the meeting focused on the Nigerian Youth Organisation’s(NYO’s) contributions to community development and the challenges facing youth bodies in the state.

Penpushing further reports that the Chairman highlighted several programmes organised by the group, including a security summit that featured the participation of all security agencies in the state.

The chairman explained that the organisation had also carried out environmental sanitation exercises and was planning a medical outreach programme, stressing that these initiatives were executed using the organisation’s own resources without waiting for government intervention.

Penpushing also reports that he disclosed that the organisation had written to the Commissioner for Sports Development to seek official recognition, noting that the absence of a functional youth department in the state had posed challenges to youth organisations.

The organisation’s boss affirmed that the body has consistently supported the ISEYA initiative of Governor Dapo Abiodun, adding that the organisation complements government efforts by implementing grassroots programmes in areas already being addressed by the administration.

Penpushing reports that Saka disclosed that the organisation had received backing from the Commissioner for Women Affairs and had entered into partnerships with the Ministry of Culture to strengthen youth engagement and development across the state.

The Special Assistant on Youth Development in his remarks, commended the Nigerian Youth Organisation for its self-driven approach to youth development, describing the group as focused and impactful.

“I love the way you have projected yourselves. Without any support, you organised a security summit, environmental sanitation and are still planning a medical outreach. You didn’t wait for government to do everything; you have made your own impact,” Lawal said.

Penpushing further reports that he assured the organisation of government support, urging them to remain focused and continue organising programmes that positively impact young people in the state.

“Do not relent. Stay focused on what you are doing. Anywhere you feel you need my support, don’t hesitate to reach out. Anytime you want to do anything and you think I have a role to play, I will surely be there,” he added.
