Nigerian senator loses wife

The Senator representing Oyo Central,  Teslim Folarin has lost his wife Angela Folarin, but the cause of death was unknown as at the time of filing this report, as source said the woman was hale and hearty until  death came calling.

Penpushing reports that, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the bereaved Senator, YSO Olaniyi confirmed the death of the 48 year-old said to have occurred on Friday afternoon in London.

“With total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, we announce the death of our wife, mother and sister, Chief (Barr.) Angela Nwaka Folarin. The wife of Oyo Central Senator was confirmed dead on Friday afternoon. She breathed her last in UK. The deceased was hale and hearty until the angel of death knocked the door. May Almighty God comfort us and grant Late Angela an eternal rest,” he said.

.Penpushing further reports that, in reaction to the death, the Senate Chief Whip, Orji Kalu, condoled  the  bereaved Senator and his family, describing the deceased as a woman of virtue who supported her husband in his political and humanitarian endeavours.

“I received with pain the news of the passing of wife of Senator Teslim Folarin, Mrs Angela Folarin. She was a virtuous woman who committed her resources to the empowerment of the womenfolk’, Kalu wrote.

“The deceased played noble roles in the advancement of the cause of the people by complementing her husband’s humanitarian gestures. Her demise is a huge loss to the womenfolk. May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace’, he added.

Penpushing also reports that, Kalu prayed for eternal rest for the deceased and urged the husband  to take solace in the fact that his late wife was committed to the service of mankind, adding that God will give him and his family the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.

The Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, and the Oyo State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) on Friday condoled with the bereaved federal lawmaker describing the death as a sad loss.

Penpushing reports that Makinde in a statement by his Special Assistant on Print, Moses Alao described the late lawyer as an exemplar who has played huge roles in the success of her husbands, especially in politics.

The Governor prayed to God to give  Folarin the fortitude and the strength to bear the loss, describing the late wife as a strong woman, who showed good courage and example to other women whose husbands are in politics.

Penpushing further reports that Makinde commiserated with all members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state and the Igbo Community as well as members of Oyo State Caucus in the National Assembly, praying to God to protect the family she left behind.

“I received with sadness the news of the sudden demise of Barrister (Mrs) Angela Folarin, wife of my brother, Oloye Teslim Folarin, the Senator representing Oyo Central. This death is a sad loss to us in Oyo State, because Mrs. Folarin was a symbol of courage and a great example for wives of politicians, as she stood by her spouse and gave courage to other women.”

“I commiserate with her husband and the family, the Igbo Community in Oyo State and members of the Oyo State Caucus in the National Assembly. I pray that Lord grants repose to her soul and give everyone she left behind the fortitude to bear this loss.”

Penpushing also reports that Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ), Oyo State Council in a statement signed by the Secretary, Comrade Sola Oladapo quoted the union’s Chairman, Demola Babalola as expressing sadness over the death.

“The Chairman, Ademola Babalola had since called Senator Folarin who was on his way to catch flight around 4pm, minutes after the unfortunate news of his wife’s death was broken”, the scribe said

“Demola Babalola in the brief chat on phone with Senator Folarin said Angela’s death was shocking and one death too many to bear. Distinguished Senator, this is sad and devastating. May Allah comfort you; the children and all the family members of the deceased”
