Nigerian Media Executives converge to chart way forward on unfinished gender bills of Buhari administration
The Nigerian Media Executives on Wednesday converged on Lagos to deliberate on building knowledge around the five gender bills and the 1999 constitution, as well as the unfinished gender business of the outgoing President Muhammadu Buhari administration.
Penpushing reports that the roundtable with media executives was organized by Women Research and Documentation (WARDC) in collaboration with Women Radio 91.7FM and International Press Centre (IPC) with support of United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through Palladium SCALE Project.
The Director of Women Research and Documentation (WARDC), Dr Abiola Akiyode-Afolabi presented a paper titled, ‘Beyond the five gender bills: The Unfinished Gender Business of the Buhari Administration’.
Penpushing further reports that on her own part, National Consultant to United Nations (UN) Women Consultant to House of Representatives Prof Joy Ezeilo spoke on ‘Building Knowledge around the five GenderBills and the 1999 constitution’
The topic, ‘Women’s Political Participation and Women’s Agenda’, was handled by Barrister Ebere Nfendu, while on his part, Executive Director of International Press Centre (IPC), Lanre Arogundade handled the topic,’, ‘Strategy for Amplifying Women’s Agenda and Increasing Women’s Voices.
Penpushing also reports that Arogundade handled the adoption of Strategy and Proposals on Media Strategies that can increase visibility on gender issues, while Toun Okewale-Sonaiya Founder of Women Radio, and President of Women in Politics (WIP), Barrister Ebere Ifendu gave special remarks respectively
