NIGERIAN LABOUR LEADERS WANT REMOVAL OF ‘NO WORK NO PAY’ ORDER FROM CONSTITUTION

“Since 2009, the unresolved issue of workers in health Sector remain the same till today, the issue for implementation arising from the agreement since 2012 are just seven, and these matter are still subject to implementation till today”

“So far, JORIASU has held over thirty three meetings with the Federal Government and signed more than four Memorandum of Understanding without nothing coming out of it, on JOHESU, as at 30th September, 2017, it has held 52 meetings with the Federal Government before it went on strike on 17 April, 2018”

The statement emphasised that the strike action embarked upon by JOHESU members was on the Dispute of Right and not Dispute of Interest because their ascension was based on Trade Union (Amendment Act) 2005

He however urged the leaders of NLC and TUC to talk to the Federal Government on their behalf to pay the full salaries of its members who participated in the strike ordered by the leadership of JOHESU

“I wish to inform you that under the disguise of “no work no pay, workers in all our hospitals who participated in the strike were only paid for seventeen days while those who did not participate in the strike were paid fully for April, on behalf of all the members of our association, we plea for urgent intervention of both the NLC and TUC to do something about the illegal action of the Federal Government and to ensure immediate payment of the withheld salaries of the entire members of JOHESU who participated in the strike ordered by it leadership, refusal of the government on the payment of salary to the striking workers, has already caused action that has been already established and can lead to court action”
