The message also urged them to work for the common good of the nation and its unity by shunning vices and tendencies that are capable of undermining genuine democracy.

‘We appeal to Christians to devote more time for sober reflections and prayers for God Almighty to heal our Nation of all aliments, because Nigeria needs prayers now more than ever before as it faces many security challenges which without doubt pose some threats to the social, economic and political stability of not only Nigeria but also of the African Continent’.

‘On this auspicious occasion, we must therefore strive more in the coming year to curtail the increasing spate of insecurity across the country. In particular Nigeria must properly address the activities of Boko Haram in the North East and some herdsmen and other criminal gangs in the Central and Northwestern parts of the country that have now assumed frightening dimensions’. 

Penpushing further reports that, the union called on all citizens to support Government’s efforts in order to avert complete anarchy, and enjoined security agencies to improve on intelligence gathering as a way to put the threat of criminals to check

‘On their part we enjoin Security agencies in the country to improve on their intelligence gathering in order to nip in the bud some of these security challenges being encountered in the country ahead of the 2019 general elections’.
