Nigerian former Minister, Jubril Martins-Kuye is dead
Nigerian former Minister of Commerce and Industry, Senator Jubril Martins-Kuye, has been reported dead at the age of 78 on Sunday morning at his hometown, Ago-Iwoye in Ogun State.
Penpushing reports that, the Chief Press Secretary to Ogun State Governor, Kunle Somorin confirmed the death, adding that his boss, Governor Dapo Abiodun has directed him to write a condolence message on behalf of the government to the family.
The late politician who mentored Sarafa Ishola, an ambassador-designate amont other notable politicians in Ogun State was born on August 16, 1942, and uring his lifetime, served as a senator during the third Republic.
Penpushing further reports that, Martins-Kuye, upon the return of democracy in 1999, contested for Governor of Ogun State under the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but lost to Chief Olusegun Osoba.
The deceased was in the same year, appointed as Minister of State for Finance under the Olusegun Obasanjo administration till 2003, and between 2919 and 2011 former President Goodluck Jonathan appointed him as the Minister of Commerce and Industry
Penpushing also reports that, the late Martins-Kuye also for number of years served as Aare Musulumi of Ogun State, and as at the time of filing this reports, symphatizers have continued to throng to his residence, as family busy making arrangements for the burial.
