Nigerian engineers host international conference
The Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (NIEEE) has concluded arrangements to host its 18th edition of its annual international conference and exhibition, scheduled to take place between October 10-14,2022 at Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital.
Penpushing reports that, a statement by Chairman, Conference Planning Committee, Engr. Felix Olu said the conference is to focus on power and telecommunications with the theme “Professionalism and Standardization in rapidly Evolving industries”, adding that former President Olusegun Obasanjo will flagged off the ceremony, while Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun is the Special Guest of Honour.
The statement added that others expected at the event include; Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako – Oyedele, Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba (Dr)Adedotun Gbadebo, Past Presidents of Nigerian Society of Engineers, President-elect, World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO), Engr Mustafa Balarabe Shehu, President Nigerian Academy of Engineering, Engr Ifeoluwa Oyedele, Executive Director (Networks) Niger Delta Power Holding Company among others.
Penpushing further reports that the statement highlights activities lined up for the conference to include; World Standard Day and Induction of new corporate members on Monday 10th, opening ceremony, technical and plenary sessions and gala night on Tuesday 11th technical sessions and fellowship conferment of distinguished Engineers on Wednesday 12th and Abeokuta City tour to Olumo Rock and Adire mall, 28th Annual General Meeting of the Institute where the new nationals officers will be elected on Thursday 13th October.
The local organizing Committee Chairman and Chairman Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (NIEEE) Abeokuta branch, Engr. Olumayowa Idowu, when contacted assured that preparations are in top gear, adding that the chapter is ready to host the best conference ever in the history of the Institute with Abeokuta being the home of hospitality.
Penpushing also reports that, it is recalled that, the flagship event which started in 2005 is a convergence of academia, regulatory and industry experts that is usually graced by top dignitaries to proffer professional solutions to prevailing issues.
The Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (NIEEE) was established in 1984 as a group of Council for Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria ( COREN), registered Electrical Engineers, and the professional body has 38 chapters across the country with thousands of professionals in all the specialties of Electrical and Electronics Engineering sub-disciplines.
