Nigerian Army renders free medical services to community
The 35 Artillery Brigade Alamala of Nigeria Army has rendered free medical services to the people of Ijebu North Local Government Area of Ogun State as part of the formation’s Civil Military Cooperation (CIMIC) activities.
Penpushing reports that the medical services included blood pressure check, eye examination and medication for malaria and fever, a gesture also extended to the traditional rulers’ market women. less privileged, members of Community Development Association and students among others.
The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division Nigerian Army (NA) Major General Lawrence Fejokwu while speaking said the exercise was in line with the vision of the Chief of Army Staff to provide a platform to further strengthen relationship between the Nigerian Army and civilian populace at the grassroots.
Penpushing further reports that, Fejokwu enjoined the communities to be alert and report any breach of security within their vicinity immediately, with assurance of providing adequate security, and avoid the use of force as the last resort to solving issues.
The Commander 35 Artillery Brigade Alamala Brigadier General Adewale Adekoya earlier during the flag off noted that the exercise was an integral part of 35 Artillery Brigade efforts to enhancing civil/military relations and Nigeria Army’s corporate social responsibility .
Penpushing also reports that, he said it is a tradition for the Nigerian Army to regularly conduct medical outreach and grassroots social services for rural communities, adding that the exercise provided an avenue to enlighten the communities on the implications of drug abuse, render free medical consultations and services and enlightenment on recruitment into the Army.
