Nigeria union of journalists sets up caretaker committee to conduct fresh election for federated chapel in ogun state

The leadership of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) on Monday set up a caretaker committee to conduct fresh election for the Federated Chapel of the Ogun State Council to usher in new executive to run affairs of the chapel for three years tenure.

Penpushing reports that, the approval was contained in a resolution reached at the end of a special congress of the chapel held at Press Centre, Iwe-Iroyin, Abeokuta, supervised by the Vice President of the zone, Comrade Cosmas Oni, alongside the Zonal Secretary, Bamigbola  Gbolagunte.

The communiqué issued by its drafting committee comprising Comrade Idris Oderinde(Chairman) and Comrade Omobolaji Adekunle (Secretary) announced caretaker committee to conduct the election as include: Messrs Dada Olaonipekun,  Solomon Fagbohungbe and Sodiq Ojuroungbe.

Penpushing further reports that, the special meeting organized by the national secretariat of the union also had in attendance the Ogun State Council Chairman, Secretary and other members of the caretaker committee with 17 members of the federated chapel.

The Vice President of the zone emphasized that the meeting was not to conduct any screening of members but to resolve the impasse among members of the chapel, stressing that it was the duty of the state council to monitor and supervise the chapel’s election.

Penpushing also reports that, the Vice President declared that the three member caretaker committee was set up oversee the affairs of the chapel forthwith, and conduct election within two weeks.

Meanwhile,the national secretariat emphasized that the existing list of the federated chapel should be used to conduct election as submitted at the last Ogun State Council Executive Meeting
