ECOWAS: Omotola Omole emerges President Federation of Business Women Entrepreneurs Nigeria

The Federation of Business Women Entrepreneurs (FEBWE) Nigeria Chapter have appointed Princess Omotola Omole as its new President, following a ratification by the body, with her inauguration slated in due course.

Penpushing reports that until her elevation Omole was the National Coordinator of the group comprising women entrepreneurs in the country, board member Commonwealth Business Women Africa (CBW-Africa), board member Strategic Women and Youth Institute (SWYI) Head of Membership Women Entrepreneurs and Professionals Development Network(WEPDN), Deputy National Coordinator Association of Nigerian Women Business Network(ANWBN), member African Women in Leadership Organisation (AWLO) and member Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI)

The elevation of Omole was received with commendation by members of the Federation of Business Women Entrepreneurs (FEBWE) within and outside Nigeria, affirming her qualities, particularly being a proactive person who has leadership qualities

Penpushing further reports that Federation of Business Women Entrepreneurs (FEBWE) was founded by Economic Community for West African States (ECOWAS) Commission and launched in Ghana in 2009, which is aimed to work for the advancement of women entrepreneurs in the region.

The Nigeria Chapter of the Federation of Business Women Entrepreneurs (FEBWE) was launched on Monday February 27, 2012 at Sheraton Hotels, Ikeja by FEFA/FEBWE National President Mme Candide Leguede from Togo who was supported by Presidents from Ghana, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Niger, Sierra Leone, Gambia and Republic du Benin.

Penpushing also reports that aims and objectives of the Federation of Business Women Entrepreneurs (FEBWE) include to encourage and develop the common interest of Women Entrepreneurs, to promote and encourage border transactions among the Economic Community for West African States (ECOWAS) countries which leads to Free Cross Border Trade.

The group is to as well facilitates friendly relationships, collaborations and partnerships between the Economic Community for West African States (ECOWAS) women entrepreneurs and their international counterparts, trade, investment and exhibitions of quality products will emerge through rival competitions during trade fairs and exhibitions.

The aims and objectives equally include arranged amidst Economic Community for West African States (ECOWAS) regional countries using Economic Community for West African States (ECOWAS) Liberation Scheme (ETLS).

Penpushing reports that record has it that in line with the inauguration of this Federation in 2009 by the Economic Community for West African States (ECOWAS) Commission, each country was mandated to go back home to launch her chapter, hence, late Iyalode Alaba Lawson returned to Nigeria and started mobilizing women entrepreneurs cut across highly and lowly down to the grassroots.

The deceased who was the pioneer President closely worked with her Benin Republic counterparts for the free border trade across our borders both at Idiroko and Seme Border, which yielded good results as both leaders met with the Customs and Immigration Officials, while Memorandum of Understanding was signed.

Penpushing further reports that notable personalities at  the launch and dinner of the colourful ceremony include  High Chief (Mrs). Opral Benson, Chied (Mrs) Tutu Adeleke; Olori Adeyemi of Alaafin of Oyo; Barrister (Mrs). Margaret Orakwusi – President, Nigerian Fishing Trawlers Association; Hon. Tola Banjo – former Deputy Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, High Chief Mike Ibru of Sheraton Hotels and his amiable wife and late Alhaji ‘Tunji Labode – President of Abeokuta Chambers of Commerce.

The others are Dame Abimbola Fashola, (former first lady of Lagos State) Senator Oluremi Tinubu; Alhaja Toyibat Adeniji, first indigenous woman entrepreneurs to go into Mining and Education who was represented by  her daughter and other distinguished guests.
