Central Bank of Nigeria donates guard post to Nigerian Television Authority Abeokuta

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Abeokuta branch has donated a security guard post to Nigerian Television Authority(NTA), Abeokuta, a gesture said to be part of  Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), to its host community.

Penpushing reports that, the commissioning of the post was held at Oke-Egunya office of the station in Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital, with number of dignitaries, which include officials of Central Bank (CBN) in attendance.

The Controller of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)   Abeokuta branch, Oseni Wahaab said the initiative was the brain-child of the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, with directive that all state branches to ensure that they embarked on one project on an annual basis that would have impact positively the people.

Penpushing further  reports that,  Wahaab disclosed that, the security guard post was donated to the station because of the complaint of insecurities in the area which has caused loses of media equipment.

“We donated this year project to  NTA Abeokuta because of their social responsibility in the society,  they give information, entertaining the public, educating society through information and communication, and no activities is done without being publicised by NTA, that’s  why they  are very important among other media and we diverted the project to them”,Wahaab stated

“It became a befitting project to do for the NTA because of the information, communication and entertainment we enjoy from them. On behalf of the Governor of Central Bank, and his team, who mandated all state capital offices to do something every year,” he added

The bank boss disclosed  that there was no special fund provided for the gesture by the bank to execute the projects, pointing out that  the funds are provided by members of staff of the bank, adding that in similar vein,the bank had embarked on no fewer than 13 projects since the idea was muted and that such projects include the provision of generating sets, renovation of schools; provision of desks and chairs to schools among others.

Penpushing also reports that, Wahaab explained that, the Governor of Central Bank mandated that every branch must provide projects in each of the state, adding that in response to this number of facilities have been provided for some establishments in the state

“We have provided table, chairs for Daniel Akintonde School of Handicapped Adigbe,  we have provided generator sets for Remand Home ,Asero Abeokuta,  also,  we have renovated Ijemo Tun-Tun High school in Abeokuta, and renovated Odeda Nursery School 1&2 through the corporate  project and we also donated six room toilet facility to Alasalatu Nursery School in Ijokodo, we have also renovated blocks of class at Community Comprehensive College, Idofia, Imeko Afon and many others through the CBN corporate project’, he added.

Penpushing also reports that, earlier in her welcome speech, General Manager Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Abeokuta, Mrs Funmi Wakama appreciated the kind gesture of the bank staffer, while also urging other corporate entity to extend more of support the station.

The proactive and resilience station boss  maintained that the security cover the station would be enjoying from the guard post would go a long way in solving their security challenges in the station and in the community.

Penpushing reports that, Wakama, who was the first female Chief Press Secretary in Ogun State, called on other people and organisations to take a cue from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) gestures to support the station.

The Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun who was represented by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu commended the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for its genuine corporate social responsibility..

Penpushing further reports that, the police commissioner who equally commended the Wakama led administration at the station, assured that the command Ajogun, will ensure adequate security for the building, the equipment and the entire community.

The notable dignitaries at the event include:  Olori Bosun Dosunmu, Yeye Oluseyi Aderinokun, Dupe Oladimeji, Eddy Aina,Tokunbo Oloruntola, Seni Ogunyemi, Ahmed Umar, Victor Mark and Prince Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji(Founder, Penpushing Media), as well as management staff of the television station among others
