Motorcycle operators’ union decry emergence of fake chairman in ogun state

The Motorcycle Operators Union of Nigeria (MOUN) has alleged of emergence of impostor claiming to be the chairman of the union in Ogun State, and seeking approval from the state government to allow him operate, citing revenue generation as a goal.

Penpushing reports that the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the National President of the union, Femi Akinlawon raised the alarm in a statement and identified the alleged impostor as Salaudeen Amoo.

The Media aide in the statement declared that the union has disowned the self-acclaimed chairman who claimed that the union had been registered with the Federal Ministry of Employment and Labour and obtained the Certificate of Registration under the Trade Union Act.

Penpushing further reports that the statement said Amoo was daring that he urged the Governor Dapo Abiodun to grant Motorcycle Operators Union of Nigeria (MOUN) the opportunity to operate in the state.

The statement described Amoo as an illegal and unrecognized individual, declaring that of the union leadership does not recognize Amoo and that the union is already operational in the state as necessary documents had been sent to the appropriate quarters a long time ago.

Penpushing also reports that Akinlawon emphasised that the Motorcycle Operators Union of Nigeria (MOUN) is recognized by the Ogun State House of Assembly and has given approval to one of the Okada Revenue agents in the state as an affiliate of the union to carry out its activities in the state.

The Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity stressed that the only union approved by the state to generate revenue are ACOMORAN, ROMO and AMORAN, adding that ROMO is already in affiliation with Motorcycle Operators Union of Nigeria (MOUN)

“The MOUN leadership at the National headquarters in Abuja will vehemently stand against any attempts to create factions or undermine its authority, so Amoo claiming to be MOUN State Chairman in Ogun state is a counterfeit and unrecognised by the National body, apart from the recognised affiliated Okada Revenue agent recognised by Ogun State House of Assembly”, he stated

Penpushing reports that Akinlawon, however, urged the state government to ignore Amoo and his cohorts and equally warned commercial motorcycle riders in the state to avoid Amoo and his activities.
