My passion for theater profession is dated back to my youthful days, says Iya Kano
A veteran female actress Oluwakemi Mosunmade, popularly known as ‘Iya Kano’ in the entertainment and film industry has disclosed that her desire to take acting as profession was in her blood from childhood.
Penpushing reports that, the artiste in an exclusive interview disclosed that her role models in the theater industry include ,Iya Rainbow, Rachel Oniga and Iya Awero who she said their dexterity in the industry was a motivational factor for her.
The woman in her 50’s said her first contact to go fully into the entertainment world started when some actors came to her fashion design shop years back to shoot a film, adding that she made used of the opportunity to launch herself into the profession
Penpushing further reports that, the famous ‘Iya Kano’ in the film industry said she also love dancing as a hobby and expressed gratitude to her parents and husband for supporting her when she eventually ventured into the entertainment industry.
“I love dancing, and the first day some actors came to my shop that they want to use my shop for film shooting I was so happy that, my dreams has finally came true, so I utilise the opportunity to express my desire to them and I was happy that they accepted me’, she said.
Penpushing also reports that, the actress who holds National Certificate of Education (NCE), and equally into fashion business was full of praises to her husband who she described as a father and always been for her.
“My husband has been a father to me, and he is always there whenever I told him I’m going for film shooting, I called my husband my daddy because he is always like DAD to me, he takes care of home whenever I travel to location’.
The veteran actress who started her journey into film industry in 2008, and with a certificate in the film industry, encouraged upcoming artiste to always exercise endurance and not to be in hurry to make quick success.
Penpushing reports ‘Iya Kano’ said they should avoid cutting corners and always be respectful, diligent and show passion, emphasisng that these were part of factors to attain success and attain top in the industry
The actress who was once a teacher expressed appreciation to some of her bosses in the entertainment world which include: Kunle Ramon , Kunle Afford, Kunle Ajiki, Kunle Afford who she said taught her rudiments of the job
‘I also want to appreciate my bosses Kunle Ramon who gave me certificate after my training ,as well , Kunle Afford, Kunle Ajiki, who are my leaders that teaches us how to make use of proverbs on the scene. And how to manage stage’, she explained.
The one time Chairperson of Fashion Designers Association in Lagos State also narrated some of her nasty experience, when she was attacked by armed robbers while going for film production and took away some of her items which include cash
“I was once robbed while going for a film shooting in Ife, I got to Ibadan successfully and when I wanted to board bus going to Ife, that was when the bike I took stopped by in a bush side, claiming the bike doesn’t work again’, she recalled,
‘Unknown to me he wanted to rob, he collected my chains, jewelry, money and other useful materials, It was a great challenge for me, but I didn’t allow that to hinder me from acting and I made myself committed’, she narrated.
