Musa Olomu distances self from media publications of power tussle at Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta

The immediate past Medical Director of Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Prof Adewale Musa Olomu has distanced himself from media report relating to crisis said to recently engulfed the institution over power tussle.

Penpushing reports that Olomu made the clarification in a statement emphasizing that he has nothing to do with the media reports and commentaries suggesting that he is connected to or responsible for a newspaper publication relating to developments at the hospital.

The statement stressed that for the avoidance of doubt, Olomu had no knowledge of, no involvement in, and no role whatsoever in the authorship, sponsorship, or circulation of the said newspaper report or any related publications.

Penpushing further reports that the statement added that any suggestion or insinuation linking him to such reports is incorrect and misleading, stressing that he completed his tenure as Medical Director of Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Abeokuta in accordance with the terms of his appointment.

‘Following the conclusion of his service, he has returned to his primary academic calling as a Lecturer of Medicine at the University of Ilorin, where he continues his career in medical education and research’, the statement read.

‘It is also important to state that Prof. Olomu has been cleared by relevant oversight and investigative agencies of any infractions relating to his tenure in office. At no time has any competent authority found him culpable of wrongdoing in the discharge of his duties as Medical Director’, it added.

‘During his tenure at FMC Abeokuta, Prof. Olomu served the institution with commitment, professional dedication, and a deep sense of responsibility. The growth, infrastructural expansion, service delivery improvements, and institutional visibility achieved during his administration remain evident and verifiable, and many within and outside the Centre can attest to the developmental strides recorded under his leadership’.

‘Having honourably completed his assignment at FMC Abeokuta, Prof. Olomu now seeks the understanding of all stakeholders to allow him to focus on his academic responsibilities and future contributions to medical training and scholarship without being drawn into unnecessary controversies’.

‘He remains grateful to the Federal Government, the Ministry of Health, staff of FMC Abeokuta, and the general public for the opportunity to serve. He wishes the Centre continued progress and stability under its present leadership’.

‘This statement is issued solely to clarify facts and prevent misinformation. Prof. Olomu remains committed to peace, professionalism, and the continued advancement of healthcare and medical education in Nigeria’, it added.
