Mohbad: Police release Naira Marley, Sam Larry
The controversial musician, Azeez Fashola popularly called Naira Marley allegedly linked with death of his signee Ilerioluwa Aloba known as Mohbad has been released by police alongside Sam Larry, music promoter.
Penpushing reports that the duo had been in police custody over the controversial death of rapper, musician and song writer, while the court granted them bail on 6 November in the sum of N20 million with three responsible sureties in like sum.
The Lagos Police Command Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed that the release of the duo was effected after meeting their bail conditions, having spent about 50 days in custody of the police authorities.
Penpushing further reports that it is recalled that Naira Marley, Sam Larry and two others were arraigned before a Yaba Magistrate’s Court on 6 October,2023 in connection to the case of the death of Mohbad.
The Magistrate, Adeola Olatunbosun, ordered the defendants to submit their passports and report weekly to the State’s Criminal Investigation Department at Panti, Yaba, while it is recalled that Mohbad who was born in Lagos on 3 January1996, and died in mysterious circumstances on 12 September and was buried the following day.
Penpushing also reports that the death of the musician sparked nationwide protest, causing the police to exhume the body for a thorough investigation, while records equally have it that he was said to have attended a concert at Ikorodu, Lagos State on 10 September 2023 where he sustained injuries in a fracas.
The police had earlier summoned parents, wife, manager and some other family members of the deceased, as well as his(Mohbad) childhood friend Ibrahim Owodunni (Primeboy) for questioning, while as at October 5, 2023, an auxiliary nurse, Feyisayo Ogedengbe, as the prime suspect.
Penpushing reports that Ms Ogedengbe was reported to have injected the musician thrice in his home on 12 September, 2023 before he started vomiting and developing goose bumps, and Mohbad was thereafter taken to the hospital lifeless and was declared dead on 12 September ,2023 by the attending physicians.
The Commissioner of Police at a press conference said the auxiliary nurse was called to inject the singer at his home by Mohbad’s friend, Ayobami Isiaka, popularly called Spending ,adding that the auxiliary nurse gave the musician three injections that were believed to have led to his death.
