Mobile court convicts drunken driver over attempt murder of Federal Road Safety official

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Mobile court has convicted a drunken driver, Ayankola Tolulope, for attempting to murder an official of the Ogun State Command along Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway

Penpushing reports that, the Sector Commander Ahmed Umar made this known in a statement, adding that the hit and run driver committed the crime on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, while driving his Toyota Venza car recklessly

The Commander said the convict hit one of personnel with the car which has no registration number, and thereafter drove off immediately after the commission of the crime but was apprehended through the help of the public.

Penpushing further reports that, following the arrest, Tolulope was immediately subjected to several investigations for the attempted murder and was rightly prosecuted on Monday 8th of March 2021 before Justice D. S Ogongo at the Mobile Court at Itori Unit Command in the state.

The Corps Commander said Tolulope was convicted for four offences which include: dangerous driving, driving under the influence of drugs/alcohol, assaulting marshal on duty and driving without the use of seatbelt.

The Sector Commander however stressed the fact that any action that threatens the lives of any member of staff of the corps while discharging their duties will be frowned at, emphasisng that such perpetrators will be prosecuted and punished.

Penpushing also reports that, Umar warned the motoring public against engaging in inhumane acts against personnel of the corps while discharging their legitimate duties as legal actions will be taken against such acts.

The Sector Commander further reiterated the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) commitment to the safety of lives on the road through prompt rescue, clearing of obstructions, public enlightenment and enforcement.
