Missing Nigerian university student found dead

The 100-level female student of the University of Nigeria Nsukka in Enugu State simply identified as Favour who was reportedly missing after attending her chemistry practical on Tuesday has been found dead.

Penpushing reports that Favour’s corpse, a student in the department of medical laboratory science of the university, residing in an apartment outside the university campus was found at the back of Eni-Njoku male hostel within the university premises on Friday evening.

The video clip which showed the corpse dumped inside what appeared to be a gutter has been circulating on social media, while an occupant of the hostel, Sky Okafor, told journalists that the body must have been dumped in the area by her killers.

Penpushing further reports that Okafor, a pharmacy student in the institution, said the corpse was later removed on Saturday morning, emphasizing that the discovery was a shock to everyone, adding there was clue yet on what really happened

The university public relations officer Okwun Omeaku, confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday, lamenting that the institution’s management was shocked by the discovery of the student’s body.

‘The university administration is deeply saddened by the loss of our student and extends heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased for the tragic death of such a promising young student’, he wrote.

Penpushing also reports that Omeaku said the university management was collaborating with security agencies and the family of the deceased student to uncover the circumstances surrounding her death.

The university spokesperson explaining that uncovering the circumstances behind the student’s death would help the university to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the institution.

We implore anyone in possession of useful information that could aid in the investigation to kindly reach out to the university administration’ he emphasised.

Penpushing  reports that another occupant of the hostel, Iyke Agbo, explained that the corpse was discovered at about 7 p.m., but could not go close because it was already oozing a bad odour, lamenting that he has not heard that anything like this ever happened around the hostel before now.
