Nigeria Association of Blind suspends national treasurer over alleged bribery allegation
The Nigeria Association for the Blind has suspended its national treasurer, Joseph Bulugbe over alleged bribery allegation and insubordination relating to the association’s election of Lagos State Chapter.
Penpushing reports that the one-year suspension of Bulugbe, who was the immediate past chairman of Ogun State Chapter was contained in a statement jointly issued by National President Stanley Nnamdi Onyebuchi and Comrade Dahiru Gambo Rafindadi, National Secretary
‘Following our thorough investigation and fair hearing offered to you on Monday the 14th day of April, 2025, the National Executive Committee of the Nigeria Association of the Blind has unanimously decided to suspend you from all association activities for a period of one-year, effective April 14, 2025, to April 14, 2026’, the statement reads.
Penpushing further reports that the association stated that the decision was made due to the reported and confirmed persuasive act of bribery against him, to Mr. Daniel Isaiah on the Lagos State Chapter Election saga.
The statement added that his actions go against principles and code of conduct, emphasizing that the measure is strictly on constitutional stipulations, specifically Article (3), Paragraph (6), Article (20) paragraph 3 and (4), including the safeguarding policy document which the association upholds
Penpushing also reports that the suspension order equally asked Bulugbe to hand over all association properties and materials in his possession to the next person in rank to his suspended offices at all levels
‘You are directed to stay away from all online and offline activities of the association at your Local Government and Ogun State Chapters, including at the national levels during your suspension period’, it added.
‘Upon completion of the suspension, you shall submit an official letter of apology to the National Committee through the Office of the South West Zonal Coordinator, to the National President, committing to uphold good moral conduct and adhere to the association’s constitutional and safeguarding policy provisions’, the order emphasised.
‘Failure to comply with these directives may result in further disciplinary actions. Your cooperation is expected in this matter to maintain the integrity and reputation of the Nigeria Association of the Blind’, the letter reads.
