Mentally-challenged woman delivered of a set of twins

A mentally-challenged woman in Ekiti has delivered of a set of twins, a boy and a girl at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti in the Ido/osi Local Government Area of Ekiti state, both mother and babies were reported doing well.

Penpushing reports that, the mentally-challenged woman popularly called ‘Iya Akamo’, was said to have earlier had a child with whom she roamed the streets of Ido-Ekiti before Saturday’s delivery

The Public Relations Officer of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti, Bank Akinnuoye, confirmed the development on Sunday, and appreciated the Ido/Osi Local Government Council for timely response to the hospital’s call.

“Iya Kamo’’ and the new babies are doing well, “Iya Kamo’’ had a child with whom she roamed the streets of Ido-Ekiti before Saturday’s delivery’, the hospital spokesman said.

Penpushing further reports that, the chairman of Ido-Osi Local Government Council, Sola Ogunsina, who visited the hospital, gave cash gift to support needs of the woman and expressed gratitude to God on the safe delivery

The council boss in the same vein, thanked the management and staff of the hospital for taking care of mother and the babies, calling on well-meaning Nigerians to extend humanitarian gestures to the trio considering the mother’s situation.

Penpushing also reports that, the mentally challenged mother received adequate antenatal care before delivery, while as at the time of filing this report, it was not clear whether any member of her family has shown up at the hospital since she was delivered of the babies.
