Medical Doctor launches into gospel music, thrills guests at praise worship ceremony
A Medical Practitioner and Proprietor of Hope Hospital located in Adigbe area of Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital, Dr Adewunmi Alayaki has launched into gospel music with the formation of a musical band he leads.
Penpushing reports that the band known as Horn of Joy Gospel band was established with focus of saxophone as major musical instruments to praise God, as well as combinations of guitar, horns and drums among others to complement the praise worship at functions
The band made up of young men, women and children on January 14, 2023 organised praise events tagged, ’Celebration of God’s Goodness’, as its 2023 edition held at Holiness Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Oke-Ajaiye International in Abeokuta
Penpushing further reports that at the events attended by hundreds of guests ,revealed the dexterity of the band, as they displayed God given talents on trumpets, saxophone ,guitar, violin, drums, keyboard and percussions to sing praises to the Almighty
The band at the ceremony dazzled guests who could not hold their excitement as the young gospel musicians performed creditably well, hence, the invited guests which include traditional ruler, retired judge, journalists among other personalities danced to high heaven
Penpushing reports that the ceremony which started with a red carpet session also engaged guest artistes, from within and outside Abeokuta who separately performed to the admiration of the invited guests and the church
The events did not end there, as notable personalities in the society which include Oba Olufemi Ogunleye(Tiwalade of Akinale Owu Kingdom of Egbaland), Justice Oladeinde Soremi(rtd), Iyalode Alaba Lawson, Tunde Kazeem ,Dr Yinka Ayefele and Prince Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji were honoured with meritorious award of service to humanity
Penpushing further reports that others are: Rev Elizabeth Awobadejo, Prince Akinola Ayoola, Dr Abayomi Olajide, Abimbola Oyeyemi, as well as organisations which include Fresh FM and Ogun State Television
The Medical Doctor who is the leader of the team and doubles as frontline member of Penpushing platform while speaking gave background of the band, explaining that he is a choir member of his church and an instrumentalist, who got divine directive to forge further in his skills of playing instruments to praise God
‘I’m a member of my church choir and an instrumentalist where I play drums, guitar and saxophone, I’m a lover of good music. One Sunday, someone took my picture and that of my son playing saxophone and posted it on Facebook and tagged me’, he recalled.
‘Many thought I only posed with the instrument, thereafter some pastors started inviting me to come and minister in their events. I turned them down with the excuse that I’m a medical doctor and not a musician’, he added.
‘One day I was praying and the spirit asked me if I was too big to praise God, I said no, He then instructed me not to turn down any invite again. That was how I assembled these crops of instrumentalists’,Alayaki added
