Media committee organizes lecture in honour of late journalism icon, traditional ruler Oba Femi Ogunleye

A media committee on Monday organized a befitting ceremony in honour of late veteran journalist and traditional ruler of Akinale town in Owu Kingdom located in Ewekoro local government area of Ogun State to honour him at death.

Penpushing reports that the ceremony tagged ‘Media Day’, with the theme, ’Future of Journalism and PR practice in Nigeria After Oba Ogunleye’ was part of activities to kick start a week-long final burial of the renowned monarch, Oba Olufemi Ogunleye held at the palace in Akinale

The ceremony which was transmitted live globally by Penpushing Media had in attendance media gurus and other stakeholders within and outside Ogun State to grace the occasion, as well as invited guests with number of them who spoke glowing about the life  and time of the deceased.

Penpushing further reports that the Ogun State Cultural troupe added glamour to the ceremony with presentation which focused on the life and time of the royal father who until his demise was the Chairman, League of Veteran Journalists, Ogun State Chapter.

The Media Day which was the first to be organized for any late or living journalist in Ogun State recorded huge turn out of participants, while there was exhibition of Ogunleye’s works, as well as digital presentations.

Penpushing also reports that the media gurus who featured in the digital presentation include Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Saka Matemilola, Chief Tola Adeniyi, veteran journalist resident in Canada, Eddy Aina, former Director National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), and Kehinde Onasanya(Ogun State Head of Service

The Chairman of the occasion was Dr Niran Malaolu, Chief Executive Officer, Rockcity F.M Radio station, as well as Chief (Dr) Fassy Yusuf, a former Commissioner of Information in Ogun State who delivered a keynote address.

Penpushing reports that the panelists include Eddy Aina, Dr Wasiu Tejuoso, Kitan Oyesiku and Sade Adebimpe who moderated the discussions, while Chairmen of Ogun and Oyo States League of Veteran Journalists and Council of Baales in Owu Kingdom also read tributes of Ogunleye.

The widow, Olori Nike Ogunleye and all the children as well as other family members were equally in attendance at the events, while the interlude was presentation of Ewi/Ori, focused on the late traditional ruler as well as light music entertainment by the popular one-man band Segun Rockers
