MASQUERADE WRITES UNDERTAKING FOR POLICE AFTER ASSAULTING ISLAMIC FAITHFUL
The police upon the husband’s report, summoned the leaders of the masquerade and were mandated to produce the erring masquerade which they did immediately, and while investigation was going on, the Muslims leaders in the area who accompanied the woman to the station pleaded with the police that they preferred amicable settlement of the case.
Penpushing further reports that, Muslim leaders told the police that since the masquerades leaders have apologised and having, all living in the same environment, the masquerade was made to tender an apology.
The police, therefore, directed the erring masquerade to make undertaking to desist from such unruly act and behavious, which the masquerade promptly complied with, and wrote a statement to turn a new leaf
Penpushing also reports that, when contacted, the Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the incident, explaining that, the case was reported at Enugada Police Station by the victim, while investigation revealed that the said woman was neither beaten up nor her veil was pulled off as claimed in some quarters.
Hear him, ’what actually happened was that the masquerade made a derogatory remark about the woman in veil which infuriated the husband, hence he reported to the Police.Upon his report, the leaders of the masquerades were summoned by the police and were mandated to produce the erring masquerade which they did immediately’.
‘Having shown interest in peaceful resolution of the matter, the masquerade was made to undertake never to do such in future and the case was officially withdrawn by the complainant’,Oyeyemi further explained.
Penpushing reports that, in a related development, the Command for the umpteenth time warned all members of various transport union in the State to desist from any act capable of causing violence in the State.
The Command spokesman in a statement said, the warning becomes necessary following the persistent threat of forceful invasion of motorparks and offices of some transport union by some disgruntled elements.
‘ It will be recalled that the Commissioner of Police Bashir Makama has been meeting with various union on different occasions where he has been enlighten them on the need to eschew violence and channel their grievances if any through the laid down procedure of their union’s constitutions’.
‘Having done all the necessary consultation, the Command will not hesitate to deal decisively with anybody caught fomenting any form of trouble within the State as the Command will not fold its arm while some unscrupulous elements will be making life difficult for the law abiding Citizens of the State’, Oyeyemi warned.
Penpushing also reports that, the Command advised members of the public to go about their lawful businesses without fear of any form of harassment or intimidation as the Command will do everything within the ambit of the law to guarantee their safety at all time.
