MAN ARRESTED FOR ATTEMPTING TO MURDER 5 YEAR OLD SON, ACCUSED OF STEALING FISH
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a man, Idowu Sikiru for alleged attempt to kill his 5 year old son, who he accused of stealing cooked fish at their residence in Itowo in Okesopen area of Ijebu Igbo town of the State
Penpushing reports that, the Command Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi made this known on Sunday, adding that the man inflicted grievous harm on the body of the boy, Segun Sikiru, which almost cost the innocent boy his life.
The police spokesman said the suspect was arrested following an information received by the Police in Ijebu-Igbo Division from members of the public who alerted the police that the suspect was about to kill the innocent boy.
‘On the strength of the information, the DPO ijebu Igbo Division Sp Kazeem Solotan quickly mobilized his detectives to the area where the suspect was arrested. Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect accused the boy of stolen a cooked fish’
Penpushing further reports that,the police said the suspect put an aluminum plate on fire and when the plate was red hot, he forcefully sat the boy on it there, given the victim a serious burnt on his buttock, and equally used the plate to burn the victim’s fingers and part of his mouth.
Meanwhile, as at the time of filing this report, the victim has been rushed to the hospital for medical attention, while the Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to Anti Human Trafficking and Child Labour unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and possible prosecution.
