Makinde’s Omituntun foundation pays examination fee of indigent students in Oyo State

A Non Government Organisation, Omituntun for Life Foundation in conjuction with Seyi Makinde Touching Lives Group have offered payment for the West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), and National Examination Council (NECO) fee of number of students in Oyo State.
Penpushing reports that, the wife of the Governor, Tamunomini Makinde while speaking on Tuesday explained that the gesture was to empower children of the less privileges to have sense of belonging and assist them in actualising their dreams.
The first lady at the event held at Presidential Lodge, Government House, Agodi, Ibadan, maintained that education is the passport to a brighter future and many higher places on earth, adding that the empowerment programme was first of its kind aside the free and quality education given to all children both in primary and secondary schools in the State under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde.
Penpushing further reports that, Makinde disclosed that no fewer than 100 students were randomly selected across the state for the program, noting that the selected students in the state were being empowered and supported with fund for their West Africaan Examination Council( WAEC)/ National Examination Council (NECO) examination fees and compendium materials of past questions for their education to be successful and come out in flying colour in life.
‘We wanted to make it digital but we have a problem in our country where some people may not have access to computer while some will not have access to electricity light, so we made it a hard copy instead of e-copy which will allow students to study well’, she explained.
Penpushing also reports that, the first lady, therefore commended the Seyi Makinde Touching Lives Groups for working behind the scene to make sure the past questions papers that are compiled are real, clean, bold enough and ready for use.
The Commissioner for Works and Transport, Professor Dahud Shangodoyin, said the programme would complement efforts of the Governor on accelerated development of the state which prioritizes education and youth empowerment.
“This programme is well planned initiative and executed through well-meaning individual, non-governmental organizations, donation of cash to direct target, under-privileged youths population of the state that can benefit immensely from the goodwill of individuals towards the current administration’, he said.
Penpushing reports that, Shangodoyin pointed out that, since May 2019, when Makinde assumed the office as the Governor, his administration has engaged in many critical and intervention that has fundamentally reshape the foundation of Oyo State economy, touching the lives of dwellers in the State.
