Lockdown: Ogun records maximum compliance on day one
The first day of the two weeks lockdown order of the Federal Government in view of the ravaging coronavirus on Saturday recorded a maximum compliance in Ogun State, as residents kept to the rules, and stayed indoor .
Penpushing reports that, residents according to investigation were indoors and major roads deserted, except few motorists who are on essential duties were seen on the roads, and few petrol stations opened for operations, but recorded low patronage.
The check showed that some of the petrol stations visited across the state, attendants were seen sleeping, while markets and shops were also totally shut down, and there was no military presence contrary to speculations that military will be engaged to monitor the compliance.
Penpushing further reports that, Ogun State Commissioner of Police Kenneth Ebrinson led other security chiefs in monitoring the lockdown and expressed satisfaction on the compliance, adding that residents have lessen the burden of security operatives with level of compliance.
‘I want to mostly thank the citizen of Ogun State for showing there sense of being civil , their sense of law abiding to a greater extent, they have lessen the burden of the security agency , am here with the director of SSS, commandant of the civil defense and other security organisations” ,he stated.
“We are in the monitor deal, we have not had any cause to chase after any citizen as it is now, so I want to appreciate them and I want them to continue in this high spirit until it is over. So far, the compliance level is total satisfactory and efficient , is functional”.
“So I am happy that they have collaborated with us without allowing us to go after any of them , so the compliance level, I am pleased and satisfied with it .The message I have have for them is that the government has created a window from Tuesday 7am to 2pm ,so we have equally keep our monitoring mechanism to ensure that within that period we monitored them to show that we complete what they have and then disperse so that the commencement of the compliance will continue from 2pm” .
“Remember in my last interview I told you we are going to be polite and plead . We don’t want to subject them to mental torture because we are passing through a very difficult time . We must give them an enabling environment to comply and corporate with the security agencies”, Ebrinson stated
