Lockdown: Federal Road Safety commission deploys 500 personnel to enforce order in Ogun State

The Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC),Ogun State Command is to deploy 500 patrol operatives;  25 patrol vans ; 04 patrol motorbikes ; 05 Advanced Life Support Ambulances and a heavy duty  recovery vehicle  across Ogun State as the two weeks  lockdown over coronavirus kick off on Friday night.

Penpushing reports that the Sector Commander, Clemen Oladele made this known in a statement explaining that this followed  specific directives from the commission’s  National Headquarters to support the  State Government.

‘We have therefore prepared an operational order that would guide our participation across Ogun State, for maintaining high visibility of all our commands thought out the entire State , including those  enroute to the international border with Benin Republic and the boundaries with Lagos ;Ondo and Oyo States’, he said.

The Commander said in addition the command had prepared and deployed the  Emergency Road Side Clinics especially  those at Sagamu on the Lagos – Ibadan Expressway and at Itori on the  Abeokuta – Lagos Expressway .

Penpushing further reports that, he disclosed that these  including the commission medical personnel comprising Medical Doctors ; specialized nurses and other trauma experts, to ensure full implementation of the Presidential Directive on coronavirus , as it affects Ogun State.

‘All FRSC’s  Advanced Life – Support  Ambulances located around crash prone areas along the Lagos – Ibadan Expressway at Mowe; Sagamu  Ogere ; Ogunmakin and along the Abeokuta – Lagos Expressway at Itori and Ota, together with  the one positioned at Siun junction  along the Abeokuta – Sagamu Highway have all been prepared and deployed with those on the Sagamu – Ijebu Ode – Benin Expressway for this special operations’, Oladele stated.

The Commander said the commission has synergized with sister security; traffic and emergency agencies to ensure implementation of the Presidential Directive and extant instructions from the Ogun State Government, as they relate to coronavirus.

Penpushing also reports that, the statement enjoins  members of the public to cooperate with  commission officers and marshals and with all other relevant security and emergency agencies during this period.

‘Motorists categorised as on essential duties  and who are granted Presidential exemption should be ready to present  evidence, to avoid unnecessary delay when stopped for routine checks on the road. All FRSC operatives participating in the special operation have been provided with safety and protective gears , especially nose guards and hand gloves’ .

‘Motorists being attended to during this special operations are therefore enjoined to respect the World Health Organization’s ”social distancing rule” when being attended to by the FRSC Officers and Marshals’, he emphasied

‘The FRSC has also availed members of the public in emergencies or those making relevant reports to the authorities , that they may use the FRSC toll – free number 122 and the National Traffic Radio , for such information and reports which  would be quickly  disseminated to appropriate authorities’.

The commander said, all  operatives on duty during this special operation have been properly briefed to be polite and exhibit good conducts as they  work harmoniously with sister security agencies during the entire operation.
