LISABI DAY CELEBRATION: JOURNALIST REINCARNATES AS KURUNMI, EGBA WARRIOR
A Journalist, Bunmi Adigun, is to play major role in the forthcoming Lisabi Day Celebration, as he becomes an Egba Traditional Warrior during the annual ceremony which next edition is scheduled to hold in March in the ancient town.
Penpushing reports that, a widely travelled journalist, who works with Ogun State Television (OGTV) Abeokuta will represent his Ijaiye community as Balogun Woro, and would ride a spotless white horse to the Egba cenotaph at Itoku, Abeokuta and later to pay homage to the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo for blessings
The former press crew member at the Governor’s office, Abeokuta will not stop there as he would in the Kurunmi (late warlord) regalia visit his grandfather who trained him to receive blessings, and thereafter move to the home of Aare of Egbaland and Balogun Of Ijaye Chief Babayeju .
Penpushing further reports that, Adigun a journalist with sixteen years’ experience hails from Agbole Oladosu at Oke Idi Iroko which is his father’s homestead while from her mother, is from Agbole Anigbio both in Ijaye, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The Balogun Woro attended, Community Primary School, Ijaye Abeokuta proceeded to Reverend Kuti Memorial Grammar School, Isabo Abeokuta, Muslim High School, Isolu, attended The Polytechnic Ibadan(Adeseun Ogundoyin Campus) Eruwa in Oyo State (ND), Moshood Abiola Polytechnic ( HND), And Crescent University Abeokuta(Bsc)
Penpushing also reports that, Adigun is a pioneer Chairman, Progressives Youth Of Oke Odo (PROYE), Ijaye, Abeokuta, former Sports Editor Polyrays of the Mass Communication Department of The Polytechnic Ibadan, Adeseun Ogundoyin Campus, former Student Union Government, Sports Director, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic,Ojere, Abeokuta, former Secretary of the Ogun State Television Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ) and presently Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ), Ogun State Council
Meanwhile, the on week-long festival is designed to celebrate Lisabi Agbogbo Akala, the progenitor of Egbaland, who liberated and also to showcase the rich culture of the ancient town, while sons and daughters both home and in diaspora expected to participate.
