Life-threatening flood sacks olokuta community residents

A life threating erosion emanating with heavy rain on Monday sacked number of residents of Olokuta community located in Abeokuta South local government area of Ogun state, which also destroyed number of properties and equipment which include vehicles.
Penpushing reports that the downpour which lasted for over an hour in the same vein, caused additional damage to unmotorable road which link other neighbouring communities also accommodating Prof Wole Soyinka railway station, as residents ran helter skelter to avoid been swept away by the flood.
The widespread flood as at the time of filing this report has cut off the adjoining communities of Olokuta, while number of the residents could not gain access to their various homes, while some of them caught in the web of the ravaging flood were heard shouting from their homes for help
Penpushing further reports that it could not be established what was the fate of those at home when the flooding started and violently entered their homes, however, as at the time of this report there was no report case of any death.
The business activities within the community were hurriedly suspended as many shop owners and traders in hurry manner equally abandoned their business premises as the flood could not be controlled following the impact
Penpushing also reports that some of the residents who narrowly escaped been swept away by the flood in an interview passionately called on the Ogun State Government to come to their aid, attributing the bad roads coupled with non-existence of drainages as major contributing factor to the havoc rendered by the rain
The on-the-spot assessment of the incident showed that many residents have abandoned their homes, with many of them seeking refuge in nearby places, waiting for when the flood will subdue to beging counting their losses
