League of veteran journalists mourn olubadan

The League of Veteran Journalists, Oyo State Chapter has commiserated with people and government of Oyo State, as well as the family of Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Olalekan Balogun who joined his ancestors on Thursday at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.

Penpushing reports that the league in a statement by its chairman, Banji Ogundele noted that the 81-year-old monarch, who was the 42nd Olubadan, brought his rich experience and knowledge to bear on the administration of the historical city during his two-year reign.

‘The League of Veteran Journalists, Oyo State Chapter has sent heartfelt condolences to the Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr Seyi Makinde, on the death of His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr) Senator Olalekan Moshood Ishola Balogun, CFR, Alll Okunmade II, Olubadan of Ibadan’, the statement reads.

Penpushing further reports that the statement added that the league of veteran journalists equally forwarded the condolence letter to the Olubadan-in-Council, the Oyo State Traditional Council, praying for the soul of the deceased to rest in peace.

‘His Imperial Majesty obtained a PHD, was a university lecturer, a former manager in Shell BP, a former Oyo State gubernatorial candidate under National People’s Party (NPP) and a former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the release added.
