Leading Women of Africa congratulates Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah as Namibia President

The Leading Women of Africa (LWA), a Pan-African women-led social enterprise has congratulated the first elected Namibia President Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on her historic inauguration.

Penpushing reports that the Leading Women of Africa (LWA), in the congratulatory message emphasized that the landmark moment is a victory for women’s leadership and a step forward in Africa’s commitment to gender-inclusive governance and economic transformation.

‘With this milestone, Namibia joins a growing list of African nations including Liberia, Malawi, Central African Republic, Tanzania, Mauritius, Ethiopia, Gabon, Angola, Ghana, Zambia, Burundi, and South Africa, that have witnessed the rise of women to the highest office’, the statement reads.

Penpushing further reports that the body pointed out that Nandi-Ndaitwah’s presidency is a powerful testament to the increasing trust and confidence in women’s leadership, reflecting the changing political landscape of Africa.

‘LWA believes that women’s presence in leadership positions accelerates socio-economic development by ensuring inclusive decision-making, economic growth, and political stability’, it reads.

‘The election of a female head of state serves as a catalyst for greater representation of women in government, corporate leadership, and key decision-making spaces across the continent’, the statement added.

‘This achievement is also a significant step toward realizing the African Union’s Agenda 2063, which envisions a developed and globally influential Africa by 2063. With women making up over 52% of Africa’s population, their support for fellow women in leadership roles will drive the continent toward sustainable progress and equitable governance’, the body wrote.

Penpushing also reports that the Pan-African women-led social enterprise, however, acknowledged that this historic moment is not about competition between men and women but about ensuring that both work together to build a stronger Africa.

‘As the late Dr. Kenneth Kaunda, First President of Zambia and Patron of Leading Women of Africa, once stated. This is an approach that will bring about the need to recognize that women play a very important role in all areas of human endeavors’.

‘The 21st century is the time for men to look at women as equal partners in political, social, and economic development. LWA extends its best wishes to President Nandi-Ndaitwah and her administration, confident that her leadership will bring progress, unity, and transformation to Namibia and beyond’, the statement emphasised.
