Coronavirus: islamic group praises nigerian government for lifting ban on worship centres

The Alasalatu Society of Nigeria and West Africa  (ASONWA)  has lauded Nigerian Government’s  reopening of worship centres closed down at the wake of coronavirus pandemic, noting it as a welcome development that will enhance non-pharmaceutical initiative at ridding the country of the deadly scourge

Penpushing reports that,  the group Grand Khalifah, Sheikh Abdul-Fatah Ajani Akorede gave the kudos to the federal government in a statement nting that, the current efforts at curtailing the pandemic need be strengthened by divine seeking endeavours by people of faith.

The Islamic body stated  that with God, all things are possible, and charged both Christian and Islamic clerics,scholars and leaders to support Presidential Task Force (PTF) and Nigeria Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) with prayers to enable them achieve success of their assignment.

Penpushing further reports that, Akorode  opined that Nigerians are religiously minded and are always convinced of divinely masterminded solution to their issue, and enjoined the various  religious congregations to come to the rescue through persistent prayers and supplications to intercede in the coronavirus crisis that has put the human world in disarray.

The Islamic prayer group in the statement made available by its General Secretary,Alhaji Kamaldeen Akintunde   counselled  custodian of worship places and congregants of the utmost need to observe coronavirus protocols that may go along with the relaxation.

Penpushing also reports that, the statement stated that such observance or compliance would not only prevent diseases like coronavirus, it will promote health and prolong life, and  asked clerics of both faith to incorporate safety guidelines or coronavirus precautionary measures in their sermons as a sustainable health propaganda to check community transmission of the deadly virus among the brethren or worshipers
