Lawyer of cop convicted for killing Bolanle Raheem says God directed him to take up case
The legal practitioner who defended the convicted Deputy Superintendent of Police Drambi Vandi, over murder of a Lagos based lawyer on Christmas Day in Ajah area of the state said he took over the defence on divine directive.
Penpushing reports the counsel to the convict Adetokunbo Odutola made this known to journalists on Monday after the court pronounced death sentence by hanging on Drambi, adding that he equally up the case without demanding a fee
The lawyer declared that despite the outcome of the case he has no regret taking up the case, adding that he will request the court judgement and look through it, stressing that his client has the right to appeal.
Penpushing further reports Justice Ibironke Harrison of the High Court had on Monday sentenced the policeman to death by hanging having found him guilty on one count charge after the case which lasted for almost a year
The police officer it is recalled had allegedly killed Raheem, an expectant mother, on Christmas Day in 2022 at the Ajah roundabout in Lagos, and following his arrest of Drambi, the then Inspector General of Police ordered his suspension from the police force
