
Landlady poisons tenant’s son over feud
A 40-year-old landlady, Nafisat Lateef, has been arrested for allegedly poisoning the three-year-old son of her tenant at Omifon, Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo state following an argument between her and the victim’s mother, identified as Rofiat.
Penpushing reports that Ondo State Police Command Public Relations Officer Abayomi Jimoh confirmed this in a statement adding that the suspect was said to have given the victim a liquid substance suspected to be poison.
“The incident occurred on Tuesday, February 4, 2026, at about 8:30am, when the suspect allegedly gave the victim, identified as Abdulrasheed, a liquid substance suspected to be poisonous. The act was reportedly carried out following a misunderstanding between the complainant and the suspect, who is the complainant’s landlady’, Jimoh said.

“Shortly after consuming the substance, the child began vomiting and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he received medical attention. Police detectives, during a swift and intelligence-led operation, arrested the suspect’, he wrote
Penpushing further reports that the police spokesperson added that in the course of investigation, the detectives recovered the liquid substance suspected to be poison, affirming that as at the time of filing this report the suspect had made useful statements,” he added.
