Lagos state police commissioner appoints judicial liason officer

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command,  Hakeem Odumosu , has appointed a Judicial Liaison Officer(JLO) for the command to work with the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria and other relevant Non-Governmental Organisations and Civil Liberty Organisations (CLOs) to promote smooth and prompt dispensation of justice in Lagos State.

Penpushing reports that, a statement by the Command Public Relations Oficer, Muyiwa Adejobi said the Commissioner  made the declaration on Thursday while receiving a delegation from the Legal Aid  Council, South West Zone , led by Mrs Lateefat  Salawu, in his Ikeja office.

The statement added that, Odumosu appointed the O/C Legal Lagos State, SP Cardoso Yetunde, to liaise between the Council and agencies and the police to make sure the Human Right Desk of the Command is active; and always expedite actions on cases and matters related to administration of justice in the state.

Penpushing further reports that, the police boss  assured the council of his commitment to support its efforts on the Police Duty Solicitors Scheme(PDSS) which  provides enabling atmosphere for easy access to police facilities and suspects by designated members of the Council.

The Zonal Director of the Legal Aid Council, South West, Mrs Lateefat Salawu,  who was accompanied by the representatives of the Nigerian Bar Association,  Lagos State chapter, Barrister Okey Ilofulunwa, European Union, commended the commissioner for his proactiveness and spontaneous response  to issues and protection of lives and property.

Penpushing also reports that, Salawu promised that the council will work in partnership with the police to ensure prompt dispensation of justice to strengthen the Criminal Justice System in the State.
