Lagos state government seals event centre where petrol was given as ‘souvenirs’
The Lagos State Government has ordered the closure of Havillah Event Centre, Oniru where kegs of petrol were handed out as souvenirs to party guests during an installation foundation party.
Penpushing reports that, media aide to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the state, Jubril Gawat, said in a twitter handle that the event centre was sealed, through the Lagos Safety Commission and the Rapid Response Squad for contravening public safety rules on Saturday.
The media aide disclosed that the Lagos Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, has ordered the arrest of the culprits, following a viral video which surface on Saturday where party guests were handed litres of petrol which has the stickers “Erelu Okin Installation Foundation Party.”
Penpushing further reports that, the party was held on Friday and said to be a coronation party of Chidinma Ogulu as the Erelu Okin of Orile Kemta, a development the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotosho had condemned.
The Commissioner pointed out that the action is dangerous and can lead to loss of lives and properties, stressing that all parties to this reprehensible action are made to account for it, adding that the safety of lives and properties of Lagosians and visitors remains a top priority to the government.
