Lagos, Ogun states top highest active mobile internet subscription in Nigeria
The Lagos and Ogun States in the South-West of Nigeria have emerged as the highest number of internet users in the country with records of 18.7 million and with 9.2 million subscribers respectively.
Penpushing reports that this was contained in a fresh data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), which also showed Kano State with record of 8.5 million subscribers, while Oyo has 8.17 and Abuja with 7.3 million subscribers
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) in the statistics figure in 2022 showed that telephone subscribers in the country is 222.5 million, with an increase of 27.1 million subscribers over the 195.5 million subscribers recorded at the end of 2021.
Penpushing reports that the Bureau stated the figure for the last quarter of 2022 represented a 13.87 per cent rise in voice subscriptions on a year-on-year basis, while on a quarter-on-quarter basis, the report showed growth stood at 4.89 per cent.
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) also recorded a total of 154.9 million active internet subscribers at the end of 2022 compared to 142 million recorded at the end of 2021, while this represents a 9.07 per cent increase in active internet subscriptions year-on-year, while on a quarter-on-quarter basis, internet subscription grew by 1.35 per cent.
Penpushing further reports that the report showed that Bayelsa had the least number of telephone users at 1.6 million subscribers, followed by Ebonyi and Ekiti with 1.9 million users and two million users, respectively.
Meanwhile, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) report equally showed that the majority of telephone users in Nigeria in 2022 were MTN subscribers.
