Kola Obadimu, Nigerian playwright partners Alaba Lawson College for children’s radio talk show

The Nigerian award winning Playwright, Kola Obadimu(jnr) has concluded arrangements to partner with Alaba Lawson Royal College, Abeokuta for production of  a newly created message- driven radio talk show aimed to draw out hidden talents of the children across the nooks and crannies of Nigeria

Penpushing reports, Obadimu said the radio talk show titled, ’Ring the Bell’ is 5-minute programme to be aired on selected radio stations on daily basis, with focus on social vices among teenagers in secondary schools.

The producer of  the popular  Children’s Court and  radio/television content producer cum Child’s right activist with several published books explained that the idea of the project is in accordance with the United Nations(UN) child-to-child communication strategy

Penpushing further reports that, he said the programme is designed to educate and inform the students on drug abuse, cultism, hooliganism, bullying, indecent dressing, smoking, examination malpractice, prostitution, gambling and rape among others

The initiator of the project pointed out that the core objectives include: to encourage child participation in accordance with the united nations declaration on the rights of the child, to divert the mind-set of the students from drug abuse and other social vices such as cultism, bullying, rape, examination malpractices and hooliganism, to complement government’s effort in curbing the vices in secondary schools and to develop and showcase the creative potentials of   the students.

Penpushing also reports that, the child human right activist is known to have produced  several radio and television  programs  from his organsation stable such as ‘I have a dream, talking drum, Angelina, because of our tomorrow, African poems among others

The Kola Obadimu playhouse is a registered company (IBZ.029764) with the Corporate Affairs Commission Nigeria, and has partnered with several international organizations such as UNICEF, UNFPA, UNDP, ACTION AID, JDPC, and EUROPEAN UNION, to produce laudable radio and television projects.

Penpushing reports that, the Non- Governmental Organization speaks and fights for the rights of the children and had produced Pendulum- a drama based on positive behavioral change supported by UNFPA.

The most recent of his work, ‘Morountolu’, a television  serial drama based on the plight of the African women most especially the widows was broadcast on local and international stations, while another known as Hot Pot, a family drama based on the story of incest  was broadcasted globally.

Penpushing further reports that, Obadimu in similar vein produced  ‘’Nationhood’’ a drama based on corruption and good governance with the support of JDPC, FUNAAB and PARK INN by Radisson,  the story is based on a University don whose beliefs and ideologies lie in the emancipation of the common people.

The Kola Obadimu Jnr’s Playhouse also produced Schools’ debate to develop the intellectual prowess of the young ones in conjunction with PARK INN by Radisson Abeokuta, with the support of Kenya Airways and Air Namibia.
